Vicky Donor is a 2012 Indian musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Shoojit Sircar. It stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam in the lead roles, while Arjun Kapoor, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Annu Kapoor feature in supporting roles. The film tells the story of Vicky Malhotra (Khurrana), a young Punjabi man who becomes a surrogate father to five children of different nationalities.The Indian television series starred Gaurav Kapoor on screen but had its story narrated by Raghu Ram. It was produced by 24 Frames Factory for Star India's channels Star Plus and Hotstar. The film is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film "Vettai", directed by S. Vicky Malhotra (Ayushmann Khurrana), an engineer working for an advertising agency in Mumbai, is set to marry his girlfriend Juhi (Yami Gautam). His grandmother, however, announces that their family has decided to donate one of his kidneys to a person on the waiting list. Vicky refuses on principle, but he gives in when she threatens him with disinheritance. The operation takes place successfully and Vicky meets the recipient, Ajay Chopra (Arjun Kapoor), who is surprised by the anonymous donation. Vicky goes home with his grandmother for her birthday party where he spots Juhi flirting with another man. He calls off the wedding and moves back in with his family.He meets Priya (Priyanka Bose), a young woman living in his apartment complex, who is obsessed with the idea of becoming pregnant. He reluctantly agrees to help her find a suitable father for her child, but soon falls in love with her. Their plans are disrupted when two of Vicky's kids are kidnapped by Ajay's goons. Vicky gives himself up to free them, but Ajay lets them go after learning about their circumstances. Juhi returns to Vicky upon learning that he has given away one of his kidneys to save a stranger's life. The two patch things up and get married after celebrating their first night together. After the wedding, Vicky and Ajay meet and Vicky learns that Ajay's kidney was taken illegally. He confronts the organ broker, Daburshah (Annu Kapoor), who reveals that he is Juhi's father. Juhi is distraught to learn that her father sold her kidney to pay for his second marriage, but Vicky comforts her.Following his success with "Vicky Donor", Sircar began scouting for a film to follow it with. He signed Ayushmann Khurrana, one of the leads of "Vicky Donor", for his next project in late 2014.
